Sofi's Aegean Kitchen: A Light Approach to Traditional Greek Home Cooking
Published in Hardcover by Clarkson N. Potter (January, 1994)
Authors: Sofi Lazarides Konstantinides, Helen Newton Hartung, and Shirley Wohl
Average review score:

Great "Healthy" Greek cooking is EZ with Sofi's Direction
This is by far the best cook book in preparing Greek food. Sofi's recipies are light, tasty and easy. Even the native born and raised marvel at the dishes that I have prepared. And Sofi's delightful stories about life in Greece of her family introduce each recipe giving it an even more interesting ingredient, that of the history of the cuisine.

Statistical Physics and the Atomic Theory of Matter: From Boyle and Newton to Landau and Onsager
Published in Hardcover by Princeton Univ Pr (September, 1983)
Author: Stephen G. Brush
Average review score:

Outstanding history of key ideas in modern physics!
This book ties it all together: from "the crumbling Aristotelian paradigm" (without a strong candidate to replace it, despite Galileo's and Descartes' best efforts) in the early 1600s, through Newton to Boltzmann and Maxwell and on to modern fluid dynamics.

Professor Brush is a physicist turned science historian, and it shows in his treatment of his subject.

Clearly written and insightful, it's difficult to put down.

Still at Large: A Casebook of 20th Century Serial Killers Who Eluded Justice
Published in Paperback by Loompanics Unlimited (November, 1998)
Author: Michael Newton
Average review score:

STILL AT LARGE
Still at Large is like a medium sized (299 pages) encyclopedia from the infamous to relatively unknown crimes. Listed A-Z from the "Alphabet" murders to "House of Horrors" murders to The "Zodiac".

It has well known crimes like The Zodiac, Bella Kiss, Kingsbury Run murders (The torso killer) and MANY MANY lesser known crimes: 195 in all!
Like the mystifying BTK strangler (bind them, torture them, kill them) who terrorized Wichita Kansas. Leaving police a message: "How many more do I have to kill, before I get my name in the paper or some national attention?"
Or the Mons Murders of Belgium where the killer dumped his victims at sites with names like: Rue de Depot (Dump street), Chemin de L'Inquietude (The path of worry) or beside the rivers Haine (Hate) & Trouille (Jitters).

Some stories are just half a page long, and others are 2-4 pages. It's clearly written with good detail & very interesting. No pictures or illustrations, just the stories. A great collection of strange unsolved crimes ranging in time from early 1900's to late 90's & from all around the world. For anyone who loves mysteries.

You'll notice some of the listed unsolved stories have now been recently solved, like the "Spokane Murders" (Robert Lee Yates jr.) & The Spotsylvania child murders (Richard Evonitz)..but most of them are "Still At Large"

Unpublished Scientific Papers Newton
Published in Paperback by Cambridge Univ Pr (Pap Txt) (February, 1979)
Author: Hall
Average review score:

The sources of newtonian natural philosophy
Alfred Rupert Hall and Marie Boas Hall (editors) bring us the unpublished sources of Newtonian scientific career. The book displays the drafts of some parts of Newton's Philosophia Naturalis Principia Mathematica as the "Conclusio"; the first critique on Cartesian mechanistic philosophy in "De gravitatione et aequipondio fluidorum". Very important are also the notes to Hooke's Micrographia. The versions are both in Latin and its respective tranlations (of high quality). The Unpliblished Scientific Papers are an invaluable book about Newton's first thoughts in his time science. Very usefull to any scholar interested in Newton's natural philosophy and the 16th and 17th centuries scientific revolution.
